Digital Transformation of Indonesian Regional Governments

The Indonesian Government's Programs to Accelerate and Widen Digital Transformations has succesfully increased state revenues in regions across Indonesia. Such digital transformation programs were undertaken by regional governments, alongside a special task force for regional digitalization, formed by the Indonesian Central Bank and Bank Indonesia.

The Indonesian Central Government is continuing to push and urge regional government's to further accelerate digital transformations. 

So far such efforts have been succesful. Following digital transformation programs the index of the electronification of regional government transactions has increased by 42 percent in the first semester of 2022.

At the regional level 94% of tax transactions are now electronified while the electronification of direct and non direct government spending has reached 96,4 and 95,9% respectively.

Indonesia's Central Bank Governor perry warjiyo said that the program to accelerate digital transformations in regional areas has helped increase the use of the qris or quick response code indonesia standard payment system. Whereby as of November there are over 30 million users of qris payment systems in Indonesia.

Next year the number of qris users is projected to increase to 45 million especially since Indonesians will be able to use the qris payment system in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and the Phillipines.
